Karas, a traditional vessel for wine fermentation and aging, was used on the territory of Armenia from ancient times. The earliest karases were found in the remains of the oldest known winery in the world (about 6,100 years old), in the caves of Areni, as well as at the partially preserved karas wine cellar in the ruins of the Urartian fortress Teishebaini.

For over 15 years, Voskevaz has been the only company producing wines using the "Kakhani" method in Armenia. Kakhani iserived from the Armenian word meaning "to hang."

This grape withering technology is one of the oldest winemaking methods in the world, and we have revived this remarkable Armenian tradition. The "Kakhani" method involves gently hanging carefully selected bunches of grapes to create a very concentrated style of wine.
